Do You Know an Outstanding ADS Security Customer?
Each quarter, ADS employees are asked to nominate outstanding ADS Security customers. This can be measured by community involvement, employee interactions, or outside knowledge. In January, we had quite a few employees take part in the program. However, one entry stood out.
ADS employee Robin Miles from Myrtle Beach nominated Fred Portway. Fred is a 10-year ADS Security customer who feels ADS has always been prompt, reliable, and has always charged fair prices. Fred knows the ADS staff very well from regularly paying his security bills inside the office. Over the years, these interactions have grown to form friendships, and the ADS Myrtle Beach staff has become very invested in Fred. While he has been an outstanding customer by being kind and loyal to ADS Security, there was something even more special that Fred was working on.
Fred served in the Coast Guard and is thankful for the service that members of the military give their country. He is proud of all branches of the military and believes they should all be represented. This gave Fred an idea. He wrote to the city council in Myrtle Beach to have the six military service flags – Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, and Space Force displayed on the boardwalk. His request was granted as of January 14, 2021, all of the military flags are now displayed! Fred is passionate about the commitment and sacrifices these men and women have given to their country and took the extra step to recognize all military members.
Fred is a committed member of his community and strives to make a difference every day. He was the Chairman of the Heart Association, American Cancer Society, and Easter Seals in his past. He has also volunteered for The United Way and the Sons and Daughters of Italy, raising money for the people of Horry County, South Carolina. Fred mentioned that when things in his county are changed or improved, he makes it a point to go to the next meeting and say thank you. He believes that saying thank you and showing gratitude for the work someone does is extremely important. When he isn’t changing the world, Fred enjoys golfing and riding his bike.
