ADS Security Now Has Locations in Five States
Nashville, TN – ADS Security, L.P., headquartered in Nashville, has acquired Advanced Detection Systems, Inc. in Melbourne, Florida, announced Mel Mahler, ADS Securityʼs President and CEO. With the acquisition, ADS Security establishes an office in Florida for the first time and will now have operations in five southeastern states. Alice Walden, owner of Advanced Detection Systems, has joined ADS Security as General Manager of the Melbourne office. Terms of the acquisition were not announced.
“The purchase of Advanced Detection Systems is part of our strategic plan to build ADS Securityʼs presence in the southeastern region,” said Mahler. “ADS Security is now well-positioned for additional growth in the Florida market.”
Mahler added, “Advanced Detection Systems has the quality people and reputation to make it a perfect fit for ADS Security.”
ADS Security, established in 1989, is currently ranked as the 23rd largest electronic security company in the nation with offices in Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, and Tennessee that serve more than 60,000 commercial, institutional and residential customers. In 2006, ADS Security purchased accounts from Westco Security Systems in Ft. Walton Beach, Florida, giving ADS Security its first Florida accounts. The Melbourne acquisition gives ADS Security its first Florida office and adds 2,400 accounts to ADS Securityʼs total account base.

Advanced Detection Systems, Inc. was established in 1985 and serves residential, commercial and institutional clients along Floridaʼs Space Coast and inland to Orlando. The company, which is located at 4450 W. Eau Gallie Boulevard in Melbourne, employs 30 people. Advanced Detection Systems provides design, installation, maintenance and service for electronic security systems, access control systems, fire detection systems, closed circuit TV (CCTV) systems, and other electronically-based life and property protection systems. It also provides 24-hour monitoring for fire protection systems, electronic security systems and CCTV systems.
Since it was established in 1989, ADS Security has steadily grown through the strategic acquisition of companies in small to mid-size markets throughout the Southeast. ADS Security acquired three companies between 2003 and 2006. Fox Alarm Company of Birmingham, the largest independent alarm company in Alabama, was acquired by ADS Security in 2003. In 2004, ADS Security acquired Angel Security in Prattville, Alabama, and moved into the greater Montgomery/south central Alabama market. In March 2006, ADS Security acquired First Coast Security in Savannah, Georgia, and blended its operations with those of ADS Securityʼs existing Savannah office. The company had made previous acquisitions in Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia, and throughout Alabama.
